Goals and Plans- Personal

lay flat with notebook, makeup, gold accessories

It’s almost the end of 2017!! Tell me, did you accomplish anything amazing this year?

I’ve had some highs and lows, and I’m ready to say Hello to a new year! Looking back on some of the goals I had set, I think I may have been a little ambitious. It’s made me stop and reassess what I want next year to look like. I want to hold myself accountable, so I’m sharing my 2018 goals with you guys!

  • No more double headers. I did a lot of back to back weddings this year, and it about killed me. I don’t have the energy for that anymore, so I’m going to be extremely selective for the weekends I do them. I’ll be only saying yes for Memorial day weekend and Labor day weekend. Since those holidays both fall on Mondays, it’s really common for weddings to take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No triple headers though. I’d most certainly die.
  • No more Sunday weddings (with exceptions.) I’ve done a few Sunday weddings this year, and it’s bothered me a little bit that I had to miss Sunday worship meetings. I don’t want anything to ever take the place of my spirituality! So I’ll be passing along Sunday wedding referrals to other photographers in the area. The only exception to this will be for destination weddings, or weddings where I don’t have to start until the afternoon.
  • More families. I’ve done a few family sessions this year, and it’s rekindled my love for them! I took about a 2 year break from doing families to focus on weddings and engagements. And while those will still be my primary focus, I’d like to start sprinkling in more family sessions throughout the year.
  • A better workflow. I’ve been simply HORRIBLE with updating my website. I’ve been great with blog posts, but haven’t put up new wedding images since July (!!!!) I also haven’t submitted one. Single. Wedding. To publishers this year, and that’s awful. And it’s because I haven’t made it part of my client workflow. It’s been an afterthought, something I’ll “get around to,” and then never get around to it. Definitely need to be better about this!

What are your business goals for 2018? Share them with me so I can cheer you on! If it’s something I can help you with, let’s plan a coffee date!
