Health Update- Personal

I just wanted to give you all an update on what’s been going on with me healthwise!

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive this past year! It’s been a lot of unknowns and trying to have a balancing act with everything! So thank you so much for everything!

Back in September, my doctor prescribed a small dose of chemo to take at home every week. While it helped my overall aches and pains, it really wiped me out for a few days! As the weeks went by, the exhaustion and fatigue lessened, but never went away.

In December, it was decided that I would come off that drug since it wasn’t helping me feel better as much as it should have. Honestly, I was happy to stop taking it! I felt like my life was revolving around when I had to take my medication, and the side effects of it dictated so much of what I could and couldn’t do.

So for the next couple months, we’re going to try a little experimenting. The doctor wants to narrow down what exactly is causing my constant pain. Whether it’s the muscles, the joints themselves, or the ligaments. We started with a low dose of a medication that is mainly used for muscle aches and overall achiness. So far, it’s not doing much for me with regard to the pain, but it could take a little time to start affecting my body.

If that doesn’t seem to be making a difference in how I feel, we’ll try a more aggressive medication. The common side effects sound awful, so I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that!

The good news is that we’re moving forward with finding something that will improve quality of life! I know with autoimmune diseases, it’s a lot of trial and error and a long process of finding what works! But we’re on the right path!
