In My Toolbag: Camera Gear!- Photography Business Education

girl holding camera

When I was first starting out in photography, I was so overwhelmed by the different gear options! Canon? Nikon? Sony? And what’s all this F2.4 and F2.8 talk? And what do you mean I need a flash?

Now let me just say that I don’t claim to be a gearhead. I personally chose to be a Canon girl simply because Canon was offering free shipping and Nikon was not. That free shipping gets me every time y’all.

Of course, there’s always going to be something bigger and better, and it’s an endless list of what I want to upgrade to next. We all start somewhere, and I’m proud to say that I’ve never went into debt for my business. Even though that means I don’t get to buy the newest toys when they come out!

So here’s what I use these days:

Camera

Right now I primarily shoot with a Canon 6D. The specs are great for shooting weddings, and the camera does well in low light situations.

Lenses

I have a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, Sigma Art 50mm 1.4, Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 85mm 1.4, and a Canon 100mm 2.8L

Flash

I have 3 flashes in my bag on wedding days. They are the Yongnuo YN 560 Speedlight

Misc Gear

I also have an umbrella and softbox with stands, a tripod, a video light, and a MagMod diffuser

What’s in your toolbag?!
