I always love this time of year because I get to plan for next year! In case you didn’t already know, I’m a HUGE planner type of person! So here’s what I have up my sleeve for 2019!
I want to photograph more portraits.
About two years ago, I made the decision to specialize in weddings and engagements. I still stand by that decision and my specialization isn’t going to change! However, a lot of the reason I decided to do that was because I wasn’t getting the clientele I wanted when it came to portraits. And to be honest, a lot of that was my fault. I was priced at such a low rate, that I wasn’t getting the people who truly valued photography and preserving memories. I was looked at as a small step up from JCPenney studio. Most of the families who showed up to picture day were dressed in something I’d imagine they also do their cleaning or grocery shopping in. Of course, I definitely had some AMAZING clients too! But the fact that I didn’t educate my clients on what to wear or price myself for what my value was in my service, led to some pretty major burn out on my end. So this year I plan on educating, and attracting clients who I know I can serve well!
I want to photograph a destination wedding.
I’ve actually had this on my list of goals for a few years now. A few years ago, I did have the honor of photographing a wonderful couple getting married in Indiana. But this is a goal I don’t think I will ever stop reaching for! I’d love to be able to do this at least once a year! And it doesn’t have to be somewhere spectacular like Paris or Hawaii or Mexico (although let’s be honest, I wouldn’t say no to ANY of those places!) I have a long list of places I’d love to travel to. And since I love photographing weddings, what better way to see the world (or the next state over) than to shoot there?! It’s a tough market to break into, but I’ll be working extra hard on it this year!
I want to grow my essential oil business.
It’s no secret that I’ve been using essential oils in my daily life. You’ve probably heard me talk about them a few times! I’m continually amazed at what they can do and how they’ve helped me improve my wellness! I’ve been able to help others in their own health journeys, and I want to keep helping as many people as I can! It’s much more than earning a paycheck, it’s about taking decisive action to get rid of the toxins and harmful products we use every single day. This year I want to put in more effort to educate others about natural products and help them make those better decisions!
I want to move.
For over a year now, Jon and I have been looking for a new house. We have a very specific list of what we need and what we want. It’s really nothing too hard to find, but for some reason, we’re having a hard time finding it. We’ve tossed around the idea of building, but I’m not sure if that’s something we can swing just yet. So I’ll be working hard on the other goals so that this one can be the result!
